I’ve had a number of clients interested in developing cutaway renderings of architectural spaces. Here’s one I recently created for a company brochure that reveals energy efficiency measures offered in a typical industrial setting. I usually like to desaturate the colors on secondary structures, and highlight areas of interest with brighter colors so the customer’s eye is quickly directed to relevant products. Walls and ceilings are removed, cut away, or ghosted, and lines are added for visual clarity. Technical details are simplified. In this example, supporting callouts with some product photos were added. The end result is a technical illustration that effectively communicates the clients products and services in the context of a real-world application.
